Chief Financial Officer – Chelsea Avondale

David Chilton

David is the Chief Financial Officer of Chelsea Avondale.

David’s extensive background in overseeing multinational insurance groups has been pivotal to the strength of Chelsea Avondale’s finance & operations functions.

David is responsible for the Group’s financing, capital structuring, and investor relations activities. In addition, he supports the development of systems processes, and his extensive knowledge of insurance markets globally helps him support the strategic growth of the group’s portfolio through scientific underwriting. David also oversees the financial reporting, treasury, legal, governance, compliance and human resources functions of the Group.

Prior to Chelsea Avondale, David worked with PwC Switzerland delivering engagements covering the global financial operations of some of the world’s largest insurance groups. This provided him with insights on insurance markets around the world and showed him the rigour required to drive operational excellence in financial services institutions. His exposure to major portfolio transactions in this role also founded his views on capital allocation and pursuing market opportunities on a global scale.

In his roles with PwC Canada, David developed significant experience in systems transaction processing, specializing in the policy administration systems that underpin all underwriting transactions for property & casualty insurance companies. His experience working first hand with many of the largest insurance carriers in Canada drew startling conclusions on the arcane technologies deployed, igniting David’s determination to improve the technologies used in insurance underwriting & policy administration.

David is a Canadian CPA, CA and holds an Honours BA in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
