Mike Burse

Mike is an expert in insurance underwriting, regulation and product development with extensive experience in the design and implementation of cutting edge personal lines insurance solutions. As Chelsea Avondale’s Managing Director of Product & Underwriting, Mike provides technical product guidance to facilitate the group’s product development, implementation and maintenance.

Prior to Chelsea Avondale, Mike led a team at Economical Insurance where he played a key role in the design and launch of Canada’s first fully digital auto & home insurance company, Sonnet. In this role he structured the insurer’s core products and underwriting processes, and led the creation of custom underwriting components for a new policy administration system.

Insurance in theory is much less complicated than insurance in practice. Mike’s experience in curating and servicing the products that underlie cutting edge insurance technologies provides Chelsea Avondale with the foundation to know that our industry leading technologies will stand up in the real world.

Mike holds a Chartered Insurance Professional designation and a diploma from Mohawk College in Business Insurance.
