David Collins

David oversees complex residential and landlord property claims, combining experience in insurance adjusting and restoration with a practical understanding of property damage, repairability, and restoration methods. He works closely with adjusters, contractors, engineers, and other specialists to guide claims through assessment, repair, and settlement. As part of Max’s catastrophe response leadership team, he also helps coordinate resources and field support during major events.

Since joining Max Insurance in 2025, David has helped standardise claims practices and supported the transition to predominantly in-house claims handling. He has developed training to help the wider claims team identify severe losses and recognise when field support is needed, while remaining directly involved in complex claims. His approach emphasises policyholders’ immediate needs, clear communication, and fair settlements under the terms of their coverage.

Before joining Max Insurance, David held senior technical specialist and claims leadership roles at Unica Insurance. He also mentors professionals entering the insurance industry.

David holds the Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional, Advanced Chartered Insurance Professional, and Chartered Insurance Professional designations. He is an IICRC Triple Master Restorer, with Master designations in fire and smoke restoration, water restoration, and textile cleaning and restoration. He earned his Business Insurance diploma with distinction from Conestoga College.
