Soon’s background in IT systems is extensive, with over 30 years experience in systems development, network infrastructure & information security.
At Chelsea Avondale, Soon leads the deployment and maintenance of all IT infrastructure including internal and cloud server environments. He also supports the development of critical software components, including the logic that underlies our task management & job optimization. Lastly, he oversees all IT security for the organization, ensuring our environment is highly resilient to unauthorized access to organizational assets including our computers, networks & data.
Prior to Chelsea Avondale Soon held several senior roles leading the development & maintenance of IT environments for a multitude of organizations. In his role as Senior Infrastructure Services Consultant with PeaceWorks Technology Solutions Soon oversaw the IT infrastructure for many clients, implementing technology solutions in cloud computing, Windows & Unix environments, working with a variety of network topologies, devices & protocols.
Soon developed significant expertise in information security through his role as a Senior Security Analyst with Spicer Corporation where he implemented the corporate security infrastructure, including the auditing & monitoring of networks, and advised on key security topics such as data encryption. Soon also has significant experience in database structures and maintenance in his work at Software AG. In his consulting role as a Senior Systems Database Administrator at the State of Hawaii, he implemented the department’s Y2K strategy and provided oversight & training to other DBAs. He worked on the review of a critical State system and recommended the transition to a 3 tier architecture.
Soon holds a Bachelor of Mathematics, Honours Computer Science degree from the University of Waterloo.
